Net Work: the TLF Exhibition
About the Project
Net Work: the TLF exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat
December 2010 / January 2011
One forum. Thirty-eight artists. Over 100 pieces of art.
A museum exhibition with big impact.
Net Work is an exhibition of the work of 38 contemporary artists who are members of an online forum,"The Littlest Forum" (TLF). Curated by Amanda van Gils, Net Work showcases the diversity of artists who utilise the Internet as a vital tool in their artistic careers, if not directly in their artistic practice. The artists in this exhibition are connected through a need and willingness to communicate and interact with other artists, forming in the process an "artistic community" without geographical, social or economic boundaries.

This is a worthwhile project, sharing a broadly diverse range of contemporary art with the local community and visitors to the region (gallery estimate an audience of 5000). A key focus has also been to provide the artist's involved with professional development opportunity through their involvement in all aspects of planning this exhibition, as well as having the opportunity to exhibit alongside more established artists in a quality public gallery. Artists in Net Work include those in the formative stages of their careers through to those with over 30 years experience as professional artists (Scroll down to see the artist list and visit our website for more information).
The exhibition will be supported by a full colour catalogue and a dedicated website http://www.networkexhibition.com

Why are we looking for funding?
The artists and curator are all making personal contributions and the gallery is doing a great job with lots of support. But we do have a lot of expenses still to bring together so much art work for this exhibition including catalogue production, website development, travel for the curator, and the usual office expenses of stationery, telephone etc and our main expense which is freight - Net Work will include over 100 art works - so much artwork from so many places! The actual freight bill alone for 2 way freight will end up close to $10,000... so we are hoping our friends and supporters will chip in toward our costs via FundBreak to help us raise at least $3500.
And, of course, we have some goodies in return. Take a look at the rewards on offer, there are invites, postcards, catalogues and even works of art depending on the support level chosen. (The selection of Artworks available for rewards listed above $650 can be viewed at http://www.networkexhibition.com/page5.htm )
