The Project

A journey to discover the real meaning of true happiness

I'm 30 years old now and Having suffered from Depression for over 10 years i have struggled to find happiness outside of a bottle of pills. I walk the streets feeling numb inside and pass people smiling on the street and wonder in silence just what is happiness to them?, what makes them smile? Is it family? Work? Love? Location? Its time to step out of the silent wondering and find out. I am on journey to find out what happiness is and asking myself the question is happiness being able to look at the world differently? I am asking the world to show me what happiness is to them! From the Outback of the northern territory to Tibet's Heavenly Lake and all the countries i between i am on journey to meet the people of the world who have found happiness and find out what defines happiness to them and ask them to show me their lives, share a piece of themselves and their happiness with me, and discover if seeing the world from a different angle will enable me to find happiness. My finished project of my journey and what i find along the way, about myself and others will bne documented in both writing and film as i capture and share my journey in a book and documentary and on a website on which i will blog and post videos, this will enable the public to follow my journey in real time and interact with me as well as suggesting locations for me to visit or offering me the chance to visit them and be shown what defines happiness to them.

Since being diagnosed with clinical depression over 10 years ago i have spent the years following, dropping in and out of work, trailing a smorgasbord of different medications and therapies and spending the majority of my time engaging in the one passion i have in life that is Writing... all the while trying to find a reason to smile and find my own happiness outside of or as a companion to - taking medication.

My funding goal is set at $5 000, i plan on using such avenues as couchsurfing.com to eliminate the costs of accommodation and enable me to really be one on one with the people of the world. The funding will be used for equipment/rental costs to document my journey on film, crew (ie, a companion to travel with me a shoot and film "happiness is..", travel expenses, website costs additional/miscellaneous expenditures I am offering a range of different rewards a signed postcard from one of the destinations of my journey with a personal thanks, a DVD and book of the final product, Acknowledged as financial supporter in book preface, and DVD, and losts of good karma!

This is a big dream, but so is and has been my journey succeed or fail it wont be through lack of trying
