New York in 50mm x 5
Project Description
I have toyed with this idea over and over and over again; and still I have the same idea hit me in the face every time.
It's the city so nice they named it twice! New York City.
They started the cycling event known as the "Maddison", pairs of cyclists hand sling each other in to the race over and over again in a dangerous game of chicken. It's the home of the Urban Legend, the Bicycle Courier. A man that can deliver pretty much anything at any time on any day of the year. It's also home to some of the most beautiful Urban Landscape. History oozing from every pore. Buildings that tell a story just in there age withered hyde. It's interesting; dark; gritty; dangerous; yet so beautiful and soft at the same time.
I have been shooting Melbourne in 50mm for a very long time, and always seem to go back to the idea of shooting New York under the pressure of just a few days.
So here Is my plan. I want to hit NYC hard and using my trusty Nikon D300S; 50mm Lens; Avanti Pista Solo; my whits; and a whole lotta luck; I want to shoot New York over 5 days with the 50mm lens. Showing what can be achieved with some thought and hard work. Platon Widely spoke about finding and being in a "raw" state to take photos, and I think this is getting pretty RAW. There are no second chances with this project, and no other way to get around it. Trying to get amazing shots everyday, is very raw indeed.
I will exhibit a set of 5 photos from each day, Color or Black and White. I haven't really decided. I will probably try and get a set of each to be honest. So an exhibition of up to 50 photographs could be on show.
This is a dream.. I hope it comes true.. With your help and best wish's it will..

Well a photographer first really, and a could have been cyclist.
I live in Australia and shoot many many many Landscapes and Urban Landscapes around Melbourne and it's surrounding suburbs. Most of the pictures I take have a very different slant and look too the norm. I see things differently, more gritty and dark than most of the sunny shinny stuff you see.
