SYNOPSIS

Middle-aged Giles wakes in the night and realises his wife’s chihuahua Colin has taken off. Half asleep, he reluctantly heads off in the wintery night in search of the cheeky mutt. As Giles wanders the streets alone, the search for the missing chihuahua becomes a search for himself as flashbacks of his failing marriage come home to roost.

Based on a short story by Julie Koh, ‘Colin the Dog’s Fabulous Midnight Adventure… and Another Story’ is a tale about lost dreams, the petty foibles of marriage and the painful acceptance of a life that didn’t turn out as planned.

PROJECT HISTORY

Producer Jiao Chen first read Julie Koh’s short story of the same title 7 years ago. Since that day he’s always wanted to turn it into a short film. Almost 3 years ago he met Grant Scicluna on the set of “Mao’s Last Dancer”. Jiao showed Grant the short story and immediately the two began developing the script. A few years later after a couple of unsuccessful attempts at getting the film made, Producer Bethany Bruce read the script and fell in love with the project. With her sharp eye for story and her can-do attitude, Bethany breathed new life into the project and quickly got it back on its feet. The film will be shot at the end of August 2010. Post production will be completed by the end of the year.

STATUS

We have a fantastic cast and crew attached to this project. Everyone came on board on the strength of the script. The film is a labour of love for us all and so far it is completely self funded. Being a 15 minute film with a 5 day shoot, the expenses on this production will be quite significant so we’re hoping YOU can help us raise some money to reduce the cost.

While we have most of the budget in place, we need you to get us across the line, particularly at the post production and marketing stages. The money raised will be used to pay for things such as:
  • Some production costs such as location fees and insurances
  • Professional conform, colour grade and mastering
  • Tape stock for mastering and dubs
  • Film festival entry fees
  • Film festival shipping costs
  • Marketing materials – flyers, DVD jackets printing etc.

Every dollar will help!
