Exchange
Project Description
After the success of Net Work in December last year, I am again bringing a diverse group of artists together to showcase a big exhibition. This time the exhibition will be hosted in Maryborough in Regional Queensland and has a rather unique aspect to it.
Taking the 'artist swap' concept one step further, Exchange features art works by 55 contemporary artists - each artist is contributing one piece to swap with another artist in the exhibition and another piece that will be available for purchase, both works will be included in the exhibition during November 2011.
I chose Maryborough in regional Queensland as opportunities to view contemporary art in the region are limited to a very small number of venues, so the opportunity to showcase so many talented artists from around the country in this one show was one I thought would truyly benefit the community.
The artists in Exchange are drawn from my contacts and reside in diverse metropolitan and regional areas around Australia: 12 from Queensland; 11 from NSW; 28 from Victoria; 1 each from Tasmania, WA and SA; and one Brisbane expat who is sending her works from Montpellier in France.
Many hours have been put into bringing this exhibition together and the artists have contributed to cover basic costs. But I am so excited by the calibre of this exhibition I would love to develop a small catalogue as a momento of this quite unique show. I'd also love to be able to pay for some advertising to help elevate the profiles of these enormously talented artists.
So, I am offering a few incentives, including a number of my own art works, to raise funds towards this exhibition.
My minimum goal is $1500 to fund printing of a simple 6 page catalogue.
For another $2500 I could also pay for some design work, display coverage in the Art Almanac and full page advert in one art glossy publication, so the 'dream goal' is $4000. By going for the dream goal I can really promote this project, the wonderful artists and a fantastic event in regional Queensland.

Here are just a few examples of the work that will be part of Exchange.

In 2010 Amanda curated the successful 'Net Work' exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat, which presented a diverse and exciting view of contemporary art through the work of 38 members of an invite only online forum, 'TLF'. Exhibiting artists included those in the formative stages of their careers through to those with over thirty years experience as professional artists.
Amanda is again curating an exhibition, this time with 55 artists drawn from across the country. Again this exhibition will take a diverse range of contemporary art to a regional audience. Opening on Saturday November 5th at Gatakers Artpsace in Maryborough, 'Exchange' is a unique combination of exhitiion and art swap and includes 110 small scale artworks.
