And it will sound awesome!!!!!

So keep supporting, keep the abundance flowing, and keep feeling the gratitude...

Wake Up, my very first Album, is almost finished,  Call it  Acoustic- Roots - Reggae, or even Devotional Funk, this is an album of positive, uplifting music that will open your heart, soothe your soul and make you want to sing! Now I need your help to get it out there and share it with the world!

Recording of all the vocals and instrumentation was completed in Melbourne late last year, and the Mixing finished  in Mullumbimby over January. All we need to do now is Reproduction and Printing, Graphic Design and if we can manage it, professional mastering. The CD case will be printed on recycled stock and include a booklet of songwords so you can sing along!

So far I have invested about $7000 in the recording process, and now I'm calling in the support of my wonderful community  to complete the project and get this music out to the world!

I'm planning a series of gigs (around Melbourne), beginning late March, to launch the Album. I'll be playing with a live band including a lot of the musicians who played on the album. With your help, I can have the CD ready for these gigs! There will also be workshops at Confest and a whole lot more planned over the year, and also some gigs up in Northern N.S.W in May and June

About Wake Up

I've been playing Music in front of people since I played Jesus in the Grade 3 production of the musical "Sam" (I was in grade 2, but none of the grade 3s were precocious and exhibitionist enough to get up in front of the whole school and sing...)
For the last 15 years or so, I've been playing around at festivals, bars, venues and campfires, mainly playing my own original music. My intention has been to get some positive messages out there, to sing them out to the world, and hopefully to get others to join in with me... there's been lots of smiles and lots of joy... but no recording. Finally, however, when people ask me "Do you have a CD", very soon I will be able to say "Yes! Here it is!"

Why "Wake Up"?

The time has come for all of us, yes every single one of us, to wake up. To see that the only way forward is with an open heart and an open mind. To honour the sacred and honour each other. This music, I believe, can help open our hearts! (especially if you sing along).

Recording Wake Up

When I came back from Bali last May with the clear intention of Recording an album it was easy to decide what my first step was- get in touch with my dear friend and amazing producer/musician Ben Last
Ben and I had lived together, played music together  and I had watched him grow from bedroom amateur producer to a sought after percussionist, recording engineer and producer for artists such as Ganga Giri, Mihi Rangi, Beth Knights and a whole heap of other people I have lots of respect for. He's also a deeply spiritual brother who understood that this was not just about creating a product for me to sell. He could appreciate my intention to create an album that had a purpose- to bring  the love, share the joy, to uplift!
Rather than planning very specific arrangements for each song, we trusted that the right people would be available at the right time to provide backing vocals and additional instrumentation. We have an amazing community of talented musicians, and basically just put it out there... I was happy to just have me, a guitar, and a bit of percussion. What actually unfolded was much more than that!

At the age of 29 I realised something. I was lucky, because I knew what I was here on this earth for! To spread the love through music and food!
I've been playing in bands since I was sixteen, mainly lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and occasionally a bit of bass. Never really being concerned about making millions of dollars and being famous, I really enjoying putting a smile on peoples faces and ideally getting them to sing too!

I've written dozens and dozens of songs. Some of them just fade away, but gradually over the years I've built up a repertoire of songs that keep on keeping on. The most notable is probably "So Much Beauty in Life"- if I had a dollar for each time someone came up to me and said- hey your that "So Much Beauty in Life Guy!" I'd have...well at least 50 bucks. I even saw a busker singing it once, and I didn't even know the guy!

Over the years I've played music with or supported some great musicians, including Murray Kyle, Mista Savona, Penelope Swales, Mihi Rangi, Mal Webb, Claire Bowditch, Freya Hanley and Carl Panuzzo, as well as the amazing artists that appear on my album:
Topher Morrey (Sipher, the Commas, Ben Last, Carlie Mills, Miranda Jay, Grant Smith, Trish Hay and Tai Jordan.

We've played at Ceres, Folk Rhythm and Life, 303, Open Studio, Wesley Anne, the Evelyn, Bar Open and a whole lot of other venues around Melbourne, and the occasional Bar in Mexico or Thailand

My favourite venue is the campfire, and I really enjoy playing on the same level as the people I'm playing to (or with). This has led me to develop a series of Open Your Heart Open Your Voice Workshops. The idea is simple- get people out of their head, and create a space where they can have a joyful experience of singing!

There's been many attempts over the years at starting an album, but business and life has got in the way- but thanks to an inspiring experience in Bali, and the support of my wonderful friends, now its happening!
