Daddy, Daddy
Project Description
'Daddy, Daddy' is a short film made through the MRC & Screen Australia's Raw Nerve Initiative for emerging filmmakers. The film was shot with a fantastic crew who volunteered their time, and finished post-production in December 2010 for a local screening in Adelaide. Now we would like to share our film with the world by entering into film festivals. In this way, not only will the film be seen by audiences both nationally and internationally, but this will assist in promoting the talents of all the emerging filmmakers who contributed to the project and further our careers if we receive recognition or acclaim through competitive festivals.
Specifically we intend to use the funds for:
a) copies of the film for film festival screenings - DVDs for screeners, and a Digi Beta and HD Cam copy for the big screen!
b) film festival entry fees - these can be expensive and can be up to $100 per festival!
c) postage for film festival entries - sending packages overseas is costly!
If we succeed 'Daddy, Daddy' could be coming to a film festival near you!
More about the film....
Daddy, Daddy - Sometimes you have to leave home to find your place.
It's Emily’s sixth birthday and she yearns for a father she’s never met. When his promised present doesn’t arrive, she puts on her cowboy hat and rides off into the sunset on a quest to find him. Her journey leads her far from home and into the night where she discovers that that life's greatest gifts don't always come wrapped.

Alexandra Blue graduated from a Media degree majoring in Film/Video Production and an Arts Degree majoring in Psychology from the University of Adelaide in 2010. Alexandra also studied Cult and B Grade
cinema at the University of Toronto in 2008, and developed a love of film during her studies.
‘Daddy, Daddy’ is the second short Alexandra has produced, and the film is very close to her heart. She is passionate about telling stories that reach out to an audience and share the same values and ideas on life that
she has. She enjoys making films with a strong focus on the visual. Her first film Error’s Escape was screened Australia wide and won ‘Best Animation’ at the South Australian Screen Awards 2010. ‘Daddy, Daddy’ was
produced shortly therafter through the Raw Nerve Initiative, followed by another short funded by the MRC,‘Unfinished Thoughts’.
Alexandra currently works in Industry Development and Production at the South Australian Film Corporation, and she is rapidly gaining useful knowledge about the industry. Alexandra is looking forward to producing
more films in the future and using all the new skills she has gained throughout this project.
