A quest for cake!
Project Description
Last year I realised I wanted to make cakes and desserts for a living. In November I held my first cupcake related event, called Cupcake Camp Adelaide. We raised over $1000 for charity and it left me wanting more to do with baking!
A few weeks later I registered my own business name and I was set. Since then I have been baking cupcakes to order and enjoying my work. In July 2010 I started a certificate in Patisserie, and learnt many more things about cooking.
In August I ran a high tea to benefit the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation, baking almost all of the delicious treats myself, and raised over $2000 for the foundation.
While the Patisserie certificate was great, I am still after more specialised cake decorating and styling knowledge, and want to travel to Sydney to study a couple of courses at the famous Planet Cake in Balmain. I've spent so much money on my Patisserie course that this dream will be still a while away.
When I have enough knowledge to be confident enough (nearly there though) I am opening my own studio here in a year or so in Adelaide where I plan to give back to those who have helped me, and as I travel around the country (as I like to do on holidays) I'd like to give back on the journey!
